About Knowledge Master *
Knowledge Master contains general information on
pest hosts, distribution, damage, biology, and management in the
form of pest summaries, reports and recommendations, and resource
information.
Knowledge Master was prepared by an
inter-disciplinary team of entomologists and plant pathologists
from the University of Hawaii, College of Tropical
Agriculture and Human Resources, and Hawaii Department of
Agriculture.
Work was supported by Federal and State of Hawaii
funds. Knowledge Master was prepared using HyperWriter! for
Windows 3.11. HyperWriter! is a product of Ntergaid Inc. of
Fairfield, CT. Knowledge Master was then converted into webpages
using Microsoft FrontPage 2.0.
Knowledge Master's Mission *
The mission of Knowledge Master is to be a multimedia computer
resource providing basic knowledge and management information for
pests of agricultural and urban environments in Hawaii.
This goal is accomplished by providing three levels of
information.
- The Entry Level provides general information on pest
hosts, distribution, damage, biology, and management in
the form of pest summaries.
- The Additional Information Level provides access to
technical and field reports and recommendations by
Cooperative Extension staff.
- The Resource Level provides reviews, journal articles,
and abstracts to scientific literature. The information
within these levels is supplemented with access to
pertinent graphics of life stages of pests, damage,
natural enemies, and production statistics.
Knowledge Master is designed to be easy to use, provide
information pertinent to agriculture in Hawaii, written for use
by the general public with access to more technical information,
and update biannually. It is to serve as a local source of
information by those who need a quick response for a situation.
