In Hawaii, this pest has been recorded on the following hosts: Christmas berry, coffee, corn, green beans, sorghum. However, in England it has been reported on Citrus, Tamarix, Lythrum salicaria and grapes.
This moth is native to the Mediterranean region and most likely dispersed throughout Europe with transported fruit. It was first reported on Oahu in 1905 and has since spread to Hawaii and Kauai.

ADULTS
The adult moth has a wingspan of 1/2 to 4/5 inch. The forewing is whitish or grayish with two pale stripes, one or two black dots and a gray fringe along the edges. The hindwings are opalescent white with black veins and a yellowish fringe. Refer to Goater (1986) for a detailed description.
