Identification

The Malaysian fruit fly also known as the Solanaceous fruit fly was introduced into Hawaii in 1983. Of the four major economically important fruit flies, the Malaysian fruit fly is the least common species. It is primarily associated with patches of wild and cultivated crops such as peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, poha, and cucumber.
